I listen to between 10 – 20 hours of podcasts each week, and sometimes I run out of stuff to listen to. My solution? Live play podcasts, that is to say, gaming groups recording and broadcasting themselves playing RPGs. Since I’ve decided to make this page about my favorite campaign, Masks of Nyarlathothep, I decided to compile a place where people can easily listen to Masks of Nyarlathothep podcasts or find new podcasts in a similar vein to listen to. I’m sure I missed quite a few podcasts. If you know of any that I’ve missed, please e-mail me at the link at the bottom of the page, or leave me a message on the contact page.
The big problem with many of these live play podcasts, both Masks of Nyarlathothep themed and otherwise, is that the audio quality really does end up being quite poor.
Listening to Masks of Nyarlathothep Podcasts Made Easy
One of the more recent additions is the Nerd’s Domain playthrough. I find the characters charming.
The RPPR (Role Playing Public Radio) also recorded a playthough. I’ve listened to a ton of their stuff, mainly because 1) they have so much of it 2) an awful lot of it is pretty good.
The Gaming Grunts recorded a version of Masks as well. I’ve never listened to this one, so I can’t speak to the quality.
Yog-Sothoth.com has a paid version available for download; the first two are available to listen to for free. You get what you pay for, the audio quality of these are excellent.
I’m working on producing a podcast right now, a live play recording of the new Trail of Cthulhu supplement “Eternal Lies.” When I’m done, I’ll return to this post and update it with a link to my experiences recording the podcast.
Let Me Know What You Think
